Free Her: When Women Paint from the Soul

On September 27, 2026, a room full of women gathered in North Scottsdale for the Free Her Day Retreat, co-hosted by Debra Lee Murrow of COLORME Art Spa and Teresa Salhi of Empower The Dream. The afternoon made space for one thing: letting her out.

Guided by Debra, a certified Painting from Your Soul® facilitator, each woman came to a blank canvas with no rules, no step-by-step instructions, and no pressure to "get it right." Sitting on the floor surrounded by paint, they reached for whatever called to them: brushes, palette knives, sponges, rags, marbles, and their own hands. There was no template to follow. Every stroke was a decision, and every decision was theirs.

What came through was powerful. Queens in crowns. A tribute to Mom. A warrior drawing back her bow under the moon. Faces glowing in orange, blue, and gold. Open skies and grounded earth. Most of these women don't call themselves artists, and every single canvas told a story only she could tell.

The day also included the women's Commitments to Carry the Torch and a collaborative Free Her COLORME Canvas. It began as Debra's bold black-and-white line design, and the women added their marks, words, and intentions throughout the day. Debra then brought it to life in full color, a lasting keepsake of what happens when women stand together in their own voice.
